Founder · Israeli Attorney

Adv. Eli Shimony is the founder of IsraelNonResident.com and a practising Israeli attorney specialising in inheritance and probate, real estate transactions, corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, mediation and arbitration, and regulatory compliance.

Eli holds an LL.B. and an M.B.A. from Ono Academic College (Kiryat Ono), and has pursued advanced legal studies at Fordham University School of Law, Yale Law School, New York University School of Law, and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva. He is a licensed member of the Israeli Bar Association, a certified mediator and arbitrator, and a certified compliance officer — holding dual certification from the Israeli Compliance Association and the International Compliance Association (ICA, UK).

Within the Bar Association, Eli serves on the Technology, Law & Internet Committee and the Intellectual Property Committee. He is fully bilingual in English and Hebrew, and has worked with clients from over 40 countries across inheritance, property, and cross-border legal matters.

IsraelNonResident.com was founded to address a gap Eli encountered repeatedly in practice: non-residents dealing with Israeli legal matters had almost no reliable English-language resource to turn to. This site exists to change that — providing accurate, attorney-reviewed guidance that non-residents can actually use.

About This Website

IsraelNonResident.com provides English-language legal guidance for people outside Israel who need to deal with Israeli inheritance, property, citizenship, banking, or documentation matters. The content is grounded in Israeli law — the Succession Law 1965, the Real Estate Taxation Law 1963, the Anti-Money Laundering Law 2000 — and every article, guide, and Q&A is reviewed by Adv. Eli Shimony before publication.

The site covers nine subject areas across hundreds of articles, Q&As, and case studies: Inheritance & Probate, Property & Real Estate, Citizenship & Legal Status, Banking & Finance, Documents & Apostille, Healthcare & Medical, Extended Stay & Living, Israeli Tax Law, and Business & Investment.

The site does not replace legal advice. It provides the foundation of knowledge that lets non-residents understand their situation, prepare for a consultation, and engage with the process with confidence.

I inherited my father's Tel Aviv apartment while living in New York and had no idea where to begin. Adv. Shimony handled every stage — probate, bank transfer, and eventual sale — entirely remotely. We closed everything in under six months.

Three siblings in three countries, a disputed will, and a Haifa property none of us could agree on. Eli mediated a settlement in four months without going to court. I genuinely did not think that was possible.

We bought an investment apartment in Tel Aviv from Melbourne. The purchase tax rules for non-residents are complicated — Eli caught a significant miscalculation before we signed and saved us real money.
